Milton "Sam" Jennings
2010 IGFA Hall Of Fame

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands Hello Readers! The ABMT is recommending that angler Milton "Sam" Jennings be considered a strong candidate for the 2010 IGFA Hall Of Fame. We are asking fishermen who know Sam to write a personal letter of recommendation to IGFA's Selection Committee. These letters will go into Sam's file for review by the selection committee. Rob Kramer, President of IGFA has stated that over 100 members of the fishing society (fresh water and saltwater divisions) are being considered and they annually choose just 5 persons, based on their individual contributions to the sport. Here we are naturally trying to strengthen Sam's chances of rising to the top of that list. If you have knowledge of Sam's contributions to the sport we ask that you write a letter to help us document his career. The effort has begun to work as several fishermen have already written to IGFA. Emails should be addressed to: Rob Kramer, President of IGFA. Email IGFA

At the tender age of 83 years Sam recently released 45 blue marlin in 12 1/2 days of fishing aboard his beloved Revenge. In all that action mind you, he went 10/10 one day and he made it 17/17 by releasing 7 more the next day. Here is another fact to think about - imagine the hooks that have been pulled around the Bahamas for the past thirty years - and Sam still holds the record for the largest Blue Marlin ever captured in those waters! He has also won the ABMT's "Top Angler" award three times and Sam and son Jon recently won "Top Angler" and "Best Boat" in the 2009 ABMT "Boy Scout." Sam's age didn't hamper team Revenge's chance of winning, in fact his angling skills put a hurtin on the other 33 boats in the tournament! We feel that Sam is an inspiration to all who enjoy and pursue the sport and while we realize there are many others to be considered...we are hoping that Sam will be among the 5 picked for next year's IGFA Hall of Fame.
